A Wish For You!

Good Morning,

My idea was injected in to me through a conversation with a lady in my community that her Sparks had did the previous year. They had done up Birthday shoe boxes for the Calgary Food Bank. I was so inspired as I enjoy creating my children's birthdays to be as special as they are. I took this on to see what difference I could make in Calgary and helping families that use the Food Bank to feel comfort in that their children will enjoy their special day always. We got in contact with the Food Bank and found out that they have a very little room for this project which has some regular support contributing to it for children ages 2 -12 years. They create birthday bags with ingredients and 3 - 4 toys(coloring books, story books, dolls, cars, trucks, puzzles, age appropriate toys, etc.) in each one. We listened and learned where the constraints are and the ages that could really benefit any extra support. So we have created our project of "A Wish For You". We are going around Calgary asking for donations of cake mixes, icing, candles, balloons. Through one major grocer in the city we are receiving gift cards that will be pulled together for a large purchase towards these items in January. The ingredients are the easy part. What we require help with is having a continuous supply of a variety of toys. This will help make these children's birthday wishes comes true and their parents to have what may have been a worry on how they can manage their child's birthday in such a crunch time be more enjoyable. Our goal is to increase the birthday bags to the age of 16 and have interest for children to this age in their birthday bag.
Another goal is to have this become a Country awareness and have the support and supplies be available at all food banks across Canada. For us all to pull together and help make every child's birthday be as special as they are we are asking for your vote.
It is an interesting thought to put a dollar figure to this project, we feel asking for support of $100,000.00 and beyond will allow us to fill Calgary's Birthday room, as well to also have the funds to explore other Food Banks in Alberta or other provinces to see were this project will lighten peoples lives. Open to this idea be picked up by a major supplier in contributing to toys and or cake ingredients.
