The Problem!

Biking of all styles and levels has become so massive in it’s popularity but no one is truly listening. BMX and Mountain biking are in the Olympics, locally in Victoria BC we have many Olympic athletes and National champions who represent the Nation at global events but where do they train?

How can we be so proud of our athletes yet never considering how they train to achieve such success? Why not embrace it and help youth and adults focus on their health?

The Answer!

A group of talented professionals in the bike industries, National champions, Olympic course builders and local businsess professionals recognized this and came up with a ingenious concept.

Can you build a park to such a level that appeases every style of riding, every demographic and mingle training professionals safely with inspired kids and youth? Mingle the child who is just learning to ride on their bike and have on the same track Canada’s top Downhill racer? We did exactly that and we are quite proud of what has become out of a vacant dump site. www.freeridebc.com North Saanich Freeride Park!

Out of nothing more than dirt we have created a design that is half complete and already the most used park in the region. People in their 50’s who are just out for a good cardio workout are enjoying the Pumptracks while leading dirt jump professionals are trying out the newest trick a few hundred feet away. We have truly built a free for all park that is highly advanced yet safe. Keeping the youth entertained and motivated to become an athlete in the Olympics or to just burn off steam.

The Request!

We simply need a bit more dirt!

No concrete pillars or fancy buildings, this is a fresh air experience and without proper dirt we are left with clay and cannot develop any further. The money we will receive will be allocated to secure a few key professionals and the materials needed. Kyle Michell, who builds for the UCI and has done work on most World and Olympic tracks you see on TV and Chris Lamb of Whistler Blackcomb is responsible for building Whistlers trails and World Cup 4X courses. Both of these fellows are signed on and we’re fundraising the best we can. We have proven that if you build it they will come and for the expense it has taken to date in relation to the costs of a new baseball or soccer field… we just created a free facility for families to get out together and a place for the youth to expend their energy!

Thank you in advance! Friends of North Saanich Society www.freeridebc.com www.freeridebc.blogspot.com
