Since, WeeHands Instructors across Canada have taught families and child care educators to use sign language with their babies, toddlers and preschool children. We're looking for funds that will help WeeHands produce children's sign language DVDs.

WeeHands Instructors are teachers of the Deaf, speech language pathologists, ASL interpreters, etc. Our class participants include parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, early childhood educators and teachers. The children our class participants have supported have been typically developing as well as children who are hearing impaired or who have another special need, e.g., Down syndrome or autism.

Parents in our classes have always asked us for more. We are aiming to create a series of children's sign language DVDs featuring the songs that we teach in our classes set to sign language. WeeHands DVDs will be fun, engaging and will teach American Sign Language signs as well as language development strategies. Parents and educators will use them to learn how to engage and nurture the children in their care through song and sign.

The parents WeeHands has been in touch with have shared:

  • I took my daughter to WeeHands classes out in Whitby when she was born and WeeHands helped me teach our youngest. I'm a huge advocate of baby sign. It's just magical to see these little guys pick it up. I just can't believe EVERYONE doesn't sign with their babies. - Karolina

  • The songs have helped me remember many of the signs we learned, and allowed my daughter and I to continue practicing words that aren't day to day even though the classes have ended. Kim was a wonderful teacher, very patient and helpful. - Marnie V.

  • Fabulous! We plan to continue practicing all of our signs and signing songs as our child grows! Thank you for a great experience. I would definitely recommend this class to others! - Natasha A.

  • The songs where lots of fun and we still are using them, and the signing. We loved it and have recommended it to many friends of ours that have become parents themselves recently. - Tracy, Kirk and Iain C.

  • My daughter and I loved the class and enjoyed the signs, songs, and special activities. We are looking forward to the next levels! Very impressed with the class, thanks! - Laura B.

Our WeeHands DVDs will also be close captioned and organized in a functional way so that our Deaf Instructors will be able to use them to introduce music in their WeeHands classes.

WeeHands is aiming to bridge communication gaps and to help everyone learn, connect and grow!
