When a family member has a chronic illness the whole family is impacted.
Camp Triumph is a truly unique, residential adventure based camp designed to meet the complex needs of children living in families where chronic illness is a fact of life. The campers have a parent or sibling with a severe chronic illness or disability. Living in a family impacted by a chronic illness can influence a child in many ways with uncertainty about the future, financial burdens and other stresses necessitating making the ill family member the priority. The children can’t get the attention and opportunities they deserve.
These children and youth have added responsibilities and stress and an array of competing emotions. The mother of one of our campers wrote, “I feel society does not understand the effect or struggles on a child when a family member has a chronic illness of disability. Teachers may not understand time missed, homework not completed or struggling grades. Coaches and band coordinators do not understand missed games or practices. Friends don’t understand when parties are not attended or when they can’t come over because family members are stressed exhausted or absent due to medical appointments or hospitalization.”
While there are many camps available for children suffering from an illness or disability themselves, this largely forgotten group of children has had nothing…….until Camp Triumph came along. There is no other organization specifically addressing the needs of this population. At Camp Triumph these children are given an opportunity to take a break from the demands of challenging life situations. Self esteem and confidence are nurtured and friendships are forged with those who can truly understand through a shared circumstance.
Camp Triumph was developed in 2005 by a small but dedicated group of volunteers who believed strongly in the need to offer these children a safe, fun, week-long summer camp experience with other children in similar situations and all at no charge to the families.. From the first year where 41 campers between the ages of 8 and 17 spent a week at a donated location to 2009 where we held a leadership camp and 3 week- long camps that saw a total of 186 campers from all 4 Atlantic Provinces experience the time of their lives, Camp Triumph has come a long way. Kayaking, arts and crafts, trips to local attractions, nightly campfires, archery, beach activities, Carnival Day, and the Camp Triumph Olympics are only a few of the experiences our campers enjoy.
Everyone who works at Camp Triumph is a volunteer. In 2009, 74 volunteer staff participated. All of the Camp counselors are university students coming from a variety of faculties such as Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, Journalism and Fine Arts. Our other volunteers range from Educators and Guidance Counselors to Firefighters.
Another parent wrote this year:
"Upon picking him up I saw a light shining in Ben's eyes that I hadn't even realized had gone out. His own words have summed up all I believe your camp strives to achieve....."Mommy, I was free." Free from responsibility. Free to laugh and be as loud as he wanted. Free of a world where fun gets sidelined, promises get broken and plans change with every seizure, fall or complication. You and your phenomenal staff have created an oasis for a neglected population and you have given our family a gift greater than I am capable of expressing. I wish for each and every volunteer, cook, counselor, carpenter, founder etc to take a quiet moment and reflect with joy that you have each irrevocably changed my little boy’s life"
2009 saw us start building our own permanent facility, with 46 volunteers contributing their carpentry skills. We now have a kitchen/dining hall and scullery as well as camper and staff washrooms with showers. 6 cabins will be built over the winter with the help of Holland College and its carpentry, cabinet making and electrical staff and students.
Our major need is a lodge - an indoor facility large enough to allow us to implement programs such as music and art therapy and to give us space large enough to provide programming to our campers during inclement weather. The camp for the past 5 years has been able and will continue to raise its annual operating budget through fundraising, grants and donations. We are fortunate to have a lease of a beautiful piece of land, from the PEI Provincial Government where we are building a facility which would allow us to accommodate up to 500 deserving children each summer. The estimated $100,000. cost of building a lodge would provide a facility which would continue to meet the needs of this unrecognized and under supported group of at risk children and youth. Being chosen as an Aviva Community Fund recipient will allow us to continue to support families dealing with chronic illness.

I travelled all the way from Saskatchewan 2 summers ago to help at this camp. These kids really are falling through the cracks. This camp lets them just be kids. Many hold back their own needs for the good of their sibling or parent. This camp say "You matter too." Please let these dedicated volunteers keep doing what they are doing but supporting this project.

My grandson Michael was 1 of the 41 that attended the first camp in 2005 and in August he attended his 5th camp. Camp Triumph is wonderful for him ,he is so excited going but even more coming home talking about next year, the adventures he will have , the old and new friends he will meet. He will be a junior counselor in 2010 and can hardly wait. He talks about Camp Triumph for weeks after he comes home wishing it was longer he enjoys everything about the camp the outings, games, crafts, kayaking, archery ,the stories around the nightly camp fire and yes the food. THANK YOU CAMP TRIUMPH. YOU ARE A WONDERFUL PLACE FOR MY GRANDSON AND WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN. THANK YOU

I have been involved with Camp Triumph since it's first year and it has truly been a life changing experience for me. My respect, admiration and love for each child who has attended has no limits. We now see children who have attended since the first year back as junior councelors - a true testament as to how much Camp Triumph has meant to them. The dedication of the councelors, all volunteers and most of them University students giving up time from much needed paying summer jobs, affects me deeply. We've had many Med students as councelors and all of them have spoken of how this experience will make them better Doctors - understanding that chronic illness does not just affect their patients. Camp Triumph does not just touch the children who attend - it also blesses every volunteer.

This letter was written by my son who has attended Camp Triumph for the last 2 years. Dear Aviva, My first time at camp, I had a blast! The second time was even better!!! The cafeteria has awesome food. I love spaghetti night! The showers are warm and the new bathrooms are great! We play awesome games like Goblins, Scream and Run and Rocks. The campfires and sing songs are every night and they are awesome! The counselors are friendly, helpful and very fun. I like meeting the other kids and making new friends. Every year I count down the days until I can come back to camp and I can't wait for next summer. Camp is a place where I can be me. Thanks Kathi and Jordan! Camp is the best! See you this summer! Love, Tanner

Last summer was the first time our 3 daughters attended Camp Triumph. Our 15 year old Kiana was very hesitant because it was her first time to go to a camp without a friend, and being as shy as she was she really didn't want to go. However when my husband and I, went to pick up our 3 girls, none of them wanted to leave. In the one week Kiana was at camp, she went from being a cocoon to a beautiful butterfly. This camp has helped not only Kiana to become more outgoing and fun, but her little sisters Kenzie and Kamryn as well. This camp is such a wonderful place for the kids to build lifelong friendships, with kids dealing with similar situations as they are. Thanks Camp Triumph for allowing my kids to just be kids!!! If this was just a camp where kids went to have fun that would be wonderful. But this camp is so much more. The campers are all children who are part of a family where there is a member with a major or terminal illness. Because of this their needs are difficult to meet in their homes because the family must focus on the person with greater needs, the ill person. Camp Triumph offers these children a chance to experience a carefree holiday away from the pressures at home. And it offers the caregivers the joy of knowing their child is being lovingly cared for. How do I know? One of my daughters has cooked at this camp since it's inception. My son-in-law is a jack-of-all-trades there every year, Another went 1000's of miles to help. A grand daughter has volunteered there and another one plans on doing it this summer. None of them have received a penny but what they received was so much more, the satisfaction of knowing they have invested in someone else's life.

I think that it is wondferful that Aviva is having this competition and hope that this camp is selected, since there are so many opportunities ahead for these children. What more can we ask for in life, than happy kids ?

Words can never express the change Camp Triumph brought to my child’s life. I am a sixty year-old grandmother raising a twelve year old grandchild. When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 my grade six child became fearful and worried constantly. He was aware that if something happened to me he would end up in foster care. He felt that his whole world was ending. He arrived home from camp with a different outlook. He had a care-free week, free from worries and appointments. My grandson was free to be a child at the camp and for at least one week he was able to put behind him the worries he carried inside and just have fun. Upon returning home I noticed that his attitude improved. He still worries but now he freely expresses those worries to me rather than internalizing them I give thanks to everyone who made this camp a reality because there are so many young people who need the opportunity to experience Camp Triumph.

This camp has been a blessing to so many kids that need a place to just be a regular kid for a week . My daugther has been with this camp since the first summer and has truly enjoyed every minute she is there. These kids that come to this camp have to deal with situations that are so stressed at home. To see these kids playing tug of war, doing art , playing flashlight tag and just hanging with there friends with smiles on there faces is remarkable when you consider alot of the kids look very sad when they first arrive. When you pick up your child on the closing day it's like our kids are the way they should be, having fun like kids should. (MARLA AND BAILEA)

Our daughter Rachel had a wonderful experience at Camp Triumph this past summer. She was touched by the genuine care and kindness that the staff gave to her. Rachel is already very excited to attend the camp next summer and she said she wishes she could go for two weeks! The week away gave Rachel a rare opportunity to take a break from the challenges of living with a sibling with special needs. She is an exceptional sister to her brother, but the issues at home can become overwhelming at times and the stress shows. Just knowing she was with other children who can appreciate that kind of day-to-day stress, allowed her to relax and have fun. Sometimes these unique kids get lost in the shuffle of living in a family facing chronic health issues. They become part of a care-giving team that this kind of family requires. This places added responsibilities on the kids that their peers cannot relate to and even their teachers don't understand. And often, these responsibilities wil

My daughter attended Camp Triumph for the first time this past summer. She was a little timid to go, not knowing what to expect, but when we picked her up she was so full of life. She had a fantastic time and first thing she said is I am coming back next year. They have a wonderful location and the best volunteers ever but they need permanent sleeping quarters. They had large tents set up which my daughter enjoyed sleeping in but a permanent lodge would be ideal for all weather conditions. The founders have worked so hard to get where they are now and their dedication is remarkable. They have worked so hard with their fundraising efforts and this funding would be an incredible boost.

I met one of the volunteers/co-founders of Camp Triumph last week in Halifax and I'm so impressed by the thought and compassion that has gone into this camp. I can't imagine how difficult it is for families who are dealing with illness etc. One week in a hospital seems like a month to most people so living with long term illess must be overwhelming. Thank goodness for Camp Triumph.

Words cannot describe how I've watched this camp from it's beginning's. The founder's of this camp are amazing people who put an unbelievable amount of time and energy into making this camp better every year despite having some big personal hardships over the past decade or more. These people have been a positive influence not only on me since I met them 13 years ago, but on hundreds of young children who undergo huge hardships in their lives. I have witnessed first hand how happy they can make stressed out young children in the time they are at Camp Triumph. At present the camp could use some permanent sleeping quarters and an activity center for the children to gather when it rains. Currently the camp is using tents to sleep in and when it rains activities for the children are limited without an activity center. This center could be used for art classes, project making etc. I really hope that the Camp gets this funding because they are an unbelievable family who could really use thi

I am a social worker in a children's hospital. I work with children experience life threatening and chronic illnesses. Their brothers and sisters give up an enormous amount in their lives in support of their ill sibling. This is the first accessible program I have found for them. I have now known many children who have attended the camp and it has had a huge, positive impact in their lives. They are special, important and have a chance to be recognized for their own sacrifices. They go, be kids and have lots of fun. Having worked with families for many years, I have found the healthy siblings are at higher risk for increased social problems as they mature. I believe this kind of camp can truly make a difference in the campers' lives. Good luck Camp Triumph!

Hello Megan - I am seriously supporting a tiny community Church in Rural Nova Scotia & have been watching your progress as I hope to find another project I could be as passionate about as the one I am already supporting - I believe yours is it! I really want to connect with you and have looked for you on Facebook but cannot find you. I see we are both working very hard to get into the top 20 and wonder if you would be interested in partnering with us, thus, enabling us both to push on to page one or two. Please . . . if you are interested, Google the Thirsty Church, go to our site, then our Facebook page and message me via that. I am the one with the pink water lily for my pic. In good faith I am going to vote for you now - putting you to 1533.

As well . . .I just want to leave this message for "vote 4 Oasis" you should be ashamed of yourself for leaving the message you did!!! People are working very hard for their communities and the negativity and disrespect you have shown is more than reprehensible. I am not sure if your comment is even worthy of reporting. Hope to hear from you Megan and in any case good luck!!

I have had the opportunity to refer children to this camp over the past three years. I have seen the benefits of a week away from home and in the enviorment of Camp Triumph. The volunteers truly make this a wonderful place to be. The cook staff get into the theme of the day, birthdays are celebrated and each child is encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and try a new activity or two. Good luck Camp Triumph!

I have seen first hand the difference Camp Triumph has made for many children. The transformation that can happen when children are acknowledged for the difficult situations that impact their lives. These kids seldom get a break from the stresses their families are under. Just because of the circumstances of illness, these kids rarely get to have the attention and opportunities they would have had if their loved one hadn't been ill and required the families' focus. Please help Camp Triumph provide a haven where they can rejuvenate and become even better able to cope with what life requires of them.

I had a chance to volunteer at Camp Triumph in the summer of 2008. It was a wonderful experience. Over the course of the week we got to see children who have stress and worries that effect them daily slowly shed those worries (if only for a few days) and be joyful young people, full of energy and smiles. From s'mores to scream and run Camp Triumph provides fun and care-free moments. The week I was there it rained all week, by the end, everyone had cabin fever, a large lodge would be ideal to help everyone continue to have fun- even if the weather won't co-operate.

My daughter attended camp this past summer for the first time, and she had an amazing time ! I was more nervous of her going off for a week on her own then she was. She can't wait to be registered to go back next year. She talked about the camp and the fun she had for weeks afterward. Definately recieves a high recommendation from our family :) Everyone was friendly and enthusiastic, that was proven when we went to the closing ceremonies. Good Luck !!!

Our son attended Camp Triumph for the first time this summer. He has separation anxiety due to the illness of his Dad. We were a little afraid to see him go away for a week ,but knew this would be a great experience for him.The first three days were very tough on him, but the councillors worked with him and he really enjoyed his stay. What a great initiative. I read some of the testimonials and it makes the whole idea come to life. The kids who are fortunate enough to attend have paid their dues..they live in a world the remaining 51 weeks of the year where the focus, concern, attention etc is NOT on them. What a terrific approach to showing them "they matter".

This is a good initiative and a much needed one. I would hope that there are sessions that psychologists of specialists helped to address the challenges these children are facing. Let them understand the challenges their families are facing, and that there are others who understand and support. In other words the support for these children should not be confimed to fun and having a great time, but rather a turning point for them to pull up their courage to face their day-to-day courage, knowing that their are someone who cares and love. Hope that this initiative can be expanded to other provinces too. Daisy from Ontario

My young neighbour attended this camp last year. He was struggling with the illness of his single parent and very stressed out. His life was on hold due to appointments, treatments, and missed the things he was used to doing. Although reluctant to attend this camp, he went and returned home with a smile on his face......one of the few I had seen for nearly a year. He not only enjoyed himself but talks constantly about returning next summer. He was able to shed the worries and stress for seven glorious days. It was so refreshing to see the change. It also gave his parent a week to rest and relax without the worry of watching her child miss out on the things his friends were doing. Good luck Camp Triumph!!!!!

The children who live in the four Atlantic Provinces are lucky to have a camp like this one. So many children live in situations where they have a parent or sibling who has medical issues.. If you are just reading about this camp for the first time, know that there was never a more original nor fundamentally necessary organization worthy of support. It is the diamond in a rough world for children who need respite from their daily lives, except this respite is not just a break, it is a miracle. After attending his first camp this past summer, my son came back to us the boy he was before our lives were so devasted by his sister's disabilities. It's more of a gift than any we have ever received. Please vote, please pass this along to anyone you know who might vote and THANK YOU!

I grew up with two siblings and a parent with significant special needs. It wasn't happy; it wasn't good; and it's not over. If only there had been a place where people understood and could offer more support than just: "Try to be a good help to your parents". If you haven't lived it you may not know how crushing a condemnation that is and what a life sentence it feels like to a child. Camp Triumph is truly offering a new lease on life to children and for that I am very, very grateful even though I am too old to be a camper! It is wonderful to know that children will be able to shed their burdens for a time and be free, and know that there are people who truly understand and support them as they deal with their lives. Thank you to the founders of Camp Triumph for seeing the need and being willing to take on the huge commitment of addressing it!

I also have been casting a vote for the Thirsty Church every day and noticed the appeal for votes for Camp Triumph.I will certainly be casting a vote for this cause each day also.If everyone who votes for either of th\ese causes would all cast a vote for both Thirsty Church AND Camp Triumph,I am sure these causes will both gain .[maybe enough to move us both up in our categories].I live in N.S. now but spent a number of years in P.E.I..Good luck with your project and PLEASE consider voting for both. After all our provinces are much smaller than a lot of the leading projects are.So lets get together and win this.

Lets go Islanders. We have to support this great project. Thanks as well to the voters from The Thirsty Church. You're on my list now to vote daily. Camp Triumph supporters - we need to get our votes out to support our neighbours as well! We can get it done together :)

I too am coming over from Thirsty Church to help support your idea. We should support each other, as we are the only representatives east of Quebec. We don't have the large population base, but we have the determination. There are so many Maritimers residing in other parts of Canada. If we can get many of them to support both initivatives, both of us would end up in the top 25. Good luck on your initiative. Also be sure to encourage support for The Thirsty Church.

Keep Spreading the word about Camp Triumph - It's a great endeavour and worthy project - in the end WE WILL TRIUMPH :) Tell all you family, friends, coworkers, etc. Get it on your FaceBook page. Keep the chatter going - just 10 more days. Also have a look at "The Thirsty Church' from Londonderry Junction, Nova Scotia. A good project from a small rural community - we all know the challenges that presents. I have Camp Triumph and The Thirsty Church in "My Supported Ideas" and voting for both daily. Hopefully you can do the same as well.

Hi everyone. I went to lend a hand by voting for The Thirsty Church, but from the tone of their recent comments I don't think they share that sentiment. Do as you see fit, but I won't be supporting them. Let's go Camp Triumph - pull out all the stops to encourage friends, people you work with, and strangers to support this wonderful camp that has done so much for so many in such a short time - and ask them to keep spreading the word.

Marilyn, I agree with you about a few [very few] people who are a bit self-centered on the Thirsty Church comment space. I replied to your comment on that site so will not waste time repeating myself.I hope you will go back and read it there.I am voting for both projects and hope all of our voters are doing the same.Like I said on the other site,I would love to see both of these Maritime projects in the winning groups. It is nicer to see everyone working together than to let a few people who can't see past the end of noses cause us to lose each others support. Lets go Camp Triumph and The Thirsty Church!!!!

Thanks to all our supporters we've made some great gains in the past two days and need to continue working diligently to bring aboard more voters and casting our votes daily. Marilyn and anyone else who might be a bit discouraged, please don't be. I believe we have a lot of supporters from The Thirsty Church as well as throughtout the Maritimes, Newfoundland and across Canada. I believe any comments made were well intended and we need to see beyond that. We've gained a lot of momentum and need to stay focused on the positive energy. The Thirsty Church has a very active message board, are a well organized group and by and large very supportive of Camp Triumph. There's merit in supporting two worth while causes. Both projects have great potential to garner a favorable review from the judges - but it will only matter if we are in the top 25. Keep up the good work everyone and keep positive and keep VOTING!

I too am from the Thirsty Church voters........just as we have said, we need to stay focused on what is important to us and it is so very obvious to me that we both have great projects on the go here and are able to support each other for a positive end result. There will always be those who have little or no faith in themselves so are unable to follow or pursue the hopes and dreams of others. I believe dreams can come true and have great faith that with God's help, we can make this happen. Don't forget the reason for the season. I am now voting daily for your wonderful compassionate idea as well as the Thirsty church because together, we can do this !!!!

OK, thanks to those from the Thirsty Church who replied to my message. I don't want to be a negative voice because I agree - we DO both have great projects. If, by working together, we can both make it to the Top 25, then the judges will do the rest. I know each and every idea in here is important to the group supporting it, and we all have the greater good in mind. I'll reconsider my vote for the Thirsty Church. Blessings to all!

A new voter from Gabriola Island. Saw the note from lizter3 and came this way for a look. Many thanks to lizter3 and others who have supported us. BTW another reason we want a medical clinic on our island is because we don't have a bridge and it makes more sense to have a clinic than a bridge. I would like to come your way some day and see your bridge though. :)

4 more votes from the Cherry family today. We are thankful to the Sherikos and everyone who works so diligently for Camp Triumph. The video is such a good representation of why these kids need this camp. They are amoung the best kids in our communities, many of whom will grow up to be our most generous and noble citizens. The Sherikos are a good example of this. These children and teens need to know they are appreciated. This contest has really done that for our daughter. It's a cause for a camp she loves. Thank you Camp Triumph!

Another 4 votes from a camper's family. We are really having fun with this! I'm glad it is happening at Christmas time because it really gets us into the Christmas spirit to see all the goodness as people help one another with their causes. Camp Triumph is my favorite camp ever and I can't wait until next summer. I hope one day I will get to be a camp councellor. At this time of year, our house can start to get stressful because my brother likes his routines and things are all different with our schedules. My mom takes me out for a break from the noise and tension. That's what Camp Triumph does for me.

Hello everyone. Here is my vote today and am just dropping a note to say thanks again for your ongoing support. Gabriola is super slow this morning because there was a 10 hour power outage overnight and power just got restarted not long ago to most places. Gabriolans are accustomed to that so we muddle through with laptops and batteries, or nothing and wait, or after a while some might have the luxury of a generator. But generally we just wait it out and do things by candlelight or woodstove. The scary part can be when something goes wrong medically during these periods and it is another reason our new clinic idea is so dear to us and why we do appreciate your support. Bye for now and I will be back with one final vote tomorrow.

The wonderful comments and support from all across the country are simpling amazing. Who would have thunk??? The networking and sharing and encouragement among communities has been beyond words and truly inspiring! Sure, there is the element of reaching out and trying to secure votes so that the special project that is near and dear to each of us makes it into the top 25 - the money will certainly go a long way to ensuring the project becomes a reality. But it goes much beyond that - way, way beyond actually. I suspect the individuals that get involved with these endeavours have a sense of community, committment and caring for their fellow human beings. There are a number of worthy projects and good people and supporters connected to each. There has been a real sense of camaraderie, a bonding that has occurred, a spirit of giving and being able to help; to be able to make a difference. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, it is what Christmas is really about. It may only be coinciden

Keep voting, keep encouraging others to vote, sign up more - even if only for the last two days! We can't relax yet. And always remember the reason why we're supporting Camp Triumph...for those kids who don't have an end in sight to their worries and stresses at home, and need this Camp to remind them that they matter. Hi everyone. I have sent ABOUT 30 VOTES to each of you at Mayerthorpe, Gabriola, Yannick, Thirsty Church, and Camp Triumph to congratulate you on your sanity and thank a number of you for your support and attempts at encouragement. I am a supporter of the Multimedia Education Project at Surrey Inner City schools in BC (acf2270) and have been supporting it through the votes I register for multiple families without computers. The project is sound but the kids are discouraged as we trail and many have given up hope; the comments at the site are not pretty and I apologise in advance for them if you visit. But when I went through them I noticed a few attempts from some of you to break the ice and open up the kids eyes to bigger possibilities. Especially at Gabriola and then Mayerthorpe I then read some of your messages and noticed the excellent support you give to eachother and how that has grown over the past week across the country. (continued)

What can I say ... Mayerthorpe thanks for your patience with our students. Gabriola thanks for your innovation and inviting our students too. PEI thanks for your enthusiasm for youth. Thirsty Church thanks for your diligence on heritage values. And Yannick: thanks for being you ... I wish my French was better and I'd hug you too. Having said that, I also invite all of you to try to look at our project and maybe instill some hope into our students; we'll never make Top 25 at this stage and rate but perhaps some of your support and example for Yannick can inspire this project and create some enthusiasm in the last two days. (acf2270)

I watched the agony and turmoil that my friend's young child experienced as his parent battled her cancer. As a single parent she had to put far more responsibility on her twelve year old than she wanted ....but there was no choice. He handled it but became more withdrawn as the stress and worry mounted. In 2009 ,after a school counsellor sent an application home with him, he went to Camp Triumph. He was reluctant to go because he was afraid something would happen at home while he was gone. However, that one week made an unbelievable difference in his life. He returned home full of excitement and is eagerly waiting for 2010. He had a chance to once again be a child because of the wonderful volunteers that had the foresight to organize this program.

My votes are for all of you in the top 60.,realizing that not everyone will make the top 25. I am so amazed by all the comments in all of the categories and ideas. Every idea is deserving of support. This has brought so many communities together to support each other's ideas. Let's all vote for each other tomorrow. Thank you to Aviva for creating this opportunity. I know the lasting alliances and friendships between our communities can go on, long after the voting ends. Let us take time to reflect, not only on our effort for our own ideas, but for everyone who has supported our ideas, friends, family, neighbours, etc. Thank you.

Keep Working Hard Camp Triumph supporters. The finish line is in sight but the goal is not yet achieved. We've got to keep a steady pace and then it's going to be a sprint to the finish line. (We seemed to have run out of of gas last night and fell fast and hard! Actually, it seemed more like these other groups came out of nowhere with hundreds and hundreds of votes in the space of a few hours). Regardless, stay positive, continue to vote, remind and recruit. Also take the time to send votes to our faithful supporters and "Our Supported Ideas". The Thirsty Church was first on board but others followed and now have many groups from coast to coast of energetic and enthusiastic supporters, including Yannick, Saint -Quinten, South Slope, Gabriola Island, Van B, Mayerthorpe and Joe's Place. We've also had votes from other projects and there are others that individuals from Camp Triumph supports as well. We appreciate all the support and votes sent our way and wish all good luck and Merry C

It's heart warming to see the support we've been given today at Camp Triumph. Things are looking more promising than they did at this time last night, but as Yogi Berra said, "it ain't over til it's over", so we need to continue working hard, making sure everyone we know has voted today. I agree with triumph - please send support to our friends and dedicated supporters at Gabriola Island, acf3958, and The Thirsty Church, acf1612. Hopefully we can all hold our positions in the Top 25. Hi I am from NB and had started supporting a Rotary Camp Playground in Saint-John, switched to St-Quentin and then read about Yannick so added him to my daily votes, then you guys early last week and finally last night Gabriola... I am so pleased that you made it and I will check out the web site for Yannick and send a donation. $10,000 is so little to make a huge difference for him. I hope you all get funding for your projects. Congrats for your dedications. Merry Xmas to all. I enjoyed reading your messages and will miss my nightly voting :) Joyeux Noël à tous....

"As they used to say in Kindergarten ... hold hands when you cross the street." A week ago one of the early Gabriola voters to the Thirsty Church site left those encouraging words. At the time, Thirsty Church was struggling between 23 and 27 and you their partners in Camp Triumph PEI were tenaciously hanging on around the same marker. When I got up early this morning and looked at the final results board - and the frenzy of voting last night to keep Gabriolan hopes alive - those words again came to mind. Thank you everyone from the bottom of our hearts on Gabriola, for this amazing experience.

I am here to congratulate everyone this morning. I'll also apologize on behalf of my friend Anu who on the Gabriola site in his excitement this morning said that the Thirsty Church is in New Brunswick. We all know it is Nova Scotia but Anu gets mixed up at times; for example saying the other day that the Atlantic provinces were on the West Coast. We know you are all on the east coast and we know the Thirsty Church is in Nova Scotia and assume it is just being fixed and not moved! Have a great Christmas!

Camp Triumph! We've made it this far. The project will now stand on its merits. As difficult as the judging will be, I truly believe we will succeed in our quest. Regardless, its been an awesome experience, one we are all richer for having participated. Merry Christmas everyone.

Congratulations! Big THANK YOU from Gabriola! Last night when we were in 23rd position and on the brink of not making the top 25, you responded to my cry for help and helped pull us up. Again Thank You. I am glad we all made it (especial Triumph, Thirsty Church and us.) I was an experience I won't forget - the comraderiie between East and West is great. Merry Christmas and a very Happy 2010 with lots of mony for your camp. Sad about Yannick, but if we all pull together he will get his van.

Has anyone gone into withdrawl yet? What a wild ride these past few days. I'm not certain if it was more exciting or nervewrecking watching the vote counts. Ending in the TOP 25 certainly made it more bearable; I'm sure it would have been a very empty feeling to have been on the outside looking in this morning. Camp Triumph provides opportunities for youth to be free of the stresses, worries and demands of their everyday lives; one in which a loved family member(s), parent and or sibbling copes with having a chronic illness. Thanks to Aviva, there is an opportunity to be awarded funding to assist with growing Camp Triumph to all it can and needs to be. Regardless of the results of the judging we will eventually get all our needed facilities. The competition has provided a greater awareness of who we are and what we offer at Camp Triumph and has generated admirers and supporters from coast to coast. A Huge Thank You to all our Volunteers and Supporters. Take Care and God Bless.

Congratulation Megan and Jenny! I know hard you both worked and how you both truly believe in this amazing camp. So do I. I remember the first time I visited the camp in PEI. It was held at an old tourism site that the owner offered to host the camp. Wow! Has it ever grown. One of the things that sincerely touched my heart and still stays with me was a comment written by on of the campers when they were asked how they felt about the camp. I believe i have the quote correct however please forgive me if i am wrong. The message remains the same. The words were " Now I know I am not alone". I am really looking forward to helping Camp Triumph become a place where kids can kids, where fun is all that matters, and where everyone is just like everyone else. Congratulations again.

I was so happy to see that your proposal was selected to be funded. Children gain so much from camp and the more that can participate in such experiences, the happier our youth! It is great to see your commitment and support in helping the children and their families that face health challenges. South Slope/BCSD says "Congratulations!"

Congratulations..So glad you won.A wonderful project. So sad that Gabriola did not win .Our Thirsty Church did not win either but since the winners were announced ",Hub" well drilling from Truro have donated their time and materials to drill the well and put water into yhe church.this has already been done so I guess the Thirsty Church won in another way and at last is not so thirsty any more.
