Tap into New Beginnings

In an effort to facilitate healing the emotional wounds of traumas such as abuse, abandonment, addiction and neglect, we propose to train 15 Prince George citizens - key community leaders, elders, youth role models and mentors - in Thought Field Therapy. Graduates of the trainings will then make themselves available to facilitate healing for their peers in the VLA (Veteran’s Land Act), the poorest neighbourhood of British Columbia. The goal is to empower the residents of the VLA to heal themselves and each other, and by extension their community and beyond.

What is Thought Field Therapy?

Thought Field Therapy is an extraordinarily effective tool for the treatment of trauma, grief, depression, stress, fears, addictions and anxiety. TFT has proven its effective in places like Kosovo where practitioners celebrated a 100% success rate in the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the civilian and military population. Therefore, Thought Field Therapy became the national trauma program for Kosova. TFT was also used extensively in Rwanda and Uganda with similarly impressive results for the treatment of PTSD in the survivors of the genocide and other war atrocities. Thought Field Therapy has also been used in First Nations communities around Northern British Columbia with great success (for example Bella Bella and Fort St. James).

Thought Field Therapy involves the tapping with fingers on specific meridian points on one’s own body. What makes TFT particularly appropriate for our project is that this proven healing tool:

  • is completely safe and easy to use
  • has a success rate of over 80% in eliminating (not just managing) almost any negative emotion in just minutes
  • can be learned by almost anyone
  • is non-invasive
  • does not require the individual to talk about or analyze their issues
  • does not re-traumatize the individual
  • has no negative side effects or drug interactions.

It is for these compelling reasons that Thought Field Therapy is regarded as the ideal intervention strategy that can offer traumatized individuals hope and the opportunity for a new beginning.

Who Will Benefit?

The target population to be trained and served are the most “at risk” clients residing in British Columbia’s lowest income neighbourhood, the VLA, otherwise known through the media as the “the ‘Hood,” located in Prince George, B.C.

Our vision is for the residents of the VLA to become empowered to heal themselves and each other. We want to see crack houses make room for tap houses, where individuals in distress can find comfort and peace any time of the day, whenever they need it. We believe that providing the people of the VLA with the tools to heal themselves is the best cure for all ailments: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Our long-term sustainable goal is to have many more Prince George citizens as well as service providers trained in Thought Field Therapy so effective relief from trauma, grief, anger, shame and anxiety are available in many locations throughout the city.

Summary:

Given that no similar projects exist anywhere in Canada, this idea is truly ground breaking it its potential not only for Prince George, but the country as a whole. Drawing on very few resources ($10,000 from AVIVA) and empowering the community, this training project can produce significant, measurable results, results that matter.

Once the children of Rwanda were freed from their day- and nightmares that manifested in daily trauma, stress, pain and anxiety, they instantly began to blossom. We long to see this transformation occur within the city of Prince George also.

This project is a partnership between the Carney Hill Neighbourhood Centre Society and The Centre for Extraordinary Living.

You will make this happen. Please vote for our project daily!

Thank you.
