Revitalize Edgewater's Ballpark and outdoor Rink facilities
Aperçu:
Our existing Ball field and outdoor rink is in desperate need of repairs. This past summer is the first time the ball field has not been used. This was very disheartening because the year before a ball league/T-ball aging 4-16 began and was overwhelmed with participants with the youth in our community. The league was unable to continue this year due to the condition of the ball field. The building that houses the bathrooms has been deemed unsafe to use and the backstop is starting to fall over. The outdoor rink is another facility that gets used by the school children in the winter as part of their PE program. It is becoming increasingly harder to maintain due to the ground its on. What needs to be done there is digging up the ground to lay proper footing so the sideboards don't shift so much from season to season. Also to be able to build the sides strong enough to hold a roof structure. With a roof it will greatly assist the volunteers who maintain the ice over the winter. Both venues are side by side and have the possibility of year round usage for both the youth and their families in our community. We strive hard to promote community spirit through family functions, outdoor, active, healthy lifestyles and at one time that is what these two venues did. Both venues are maintained and operated by 100% of volunteers, it has just come to a point where some serious renovations need to be done and is beyond our volunteer capabilities. Our ultimate dream is to revitalize the facilities to a point where it can be used year round and bring back the community spirit of our youth and families.
