Help us work with youth to build confidence, improve performance in school, encourage community involvement, learn about healthy living and understand the value of teamwork to achieve great goals. With the support of the St. Clair College Alumni Association and the LaSalle Police Association, the LaSalle Vipers Jr. B Hockey Team currently provides tickets to schools and supports various literacy programs. The PUCK Stops Here!, with Aviva funding, will allow the Vipers Youth Program to expand to include: - Collect used hockey equipment for disadvantaged youth - Provide free helmets to low income youth - Set up free skate sessions with the Vipers - Distribute activity booklets and hockey cards promoting literacy - Develop more in-school initiatives across Windsor and Essex County with Vipers as positive role models Game ticket distribution would be extended to Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Way and Children’s Aid Societies, to allow families to take part in Hometown Hockey games at the Vollmer Cultural and Recreation Complex. Youth influenced by an onslaught of video games, poor quality TV, and less-than-stellar media role models now have a program that will tap into community sports leaders to show positive alternatives. The LaSalle Vipers are a popular Jr. B Hockey Team (2010 Sutherland Cup league champions) that works in the community promoting education, family, teamwork and healthy living. **** VOTE NOW for The PUCK Stops Here! ****
