"HEROES"

Good Day To All, Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Danniel J. Lennax. I am a writer of Poetry/Lyrics. I am 55 years old. I have written over 75 Poems/Lyrics dedicated to the Troops killed in Afghanistan. I have been writing since I was 9 or 10 years old. I write basically for myself and I am reluctant to let others read my words. However, since my son talked me into putting some of my writing on the Internet, I have had hundreds of people telling me I am a good Poet and asking if I have a book they can purchase. When I tell them, "No", they say I should be published. As I said, I don't usually write for others, but because of comments I have received, I felt a need, or more of a calling, to write and do something good with my words. Then I had a Revelation!!!A BOOK!!! With 45% of all profits going to a charity to help the Children of those killed. A fund that I will start... with consultation from the familes. 'THE CHILDREN OF HEROES FUND'. This money will be committed to giving the children what their Parent would have given them, if they were still here. My plan is a simple one. To give the Children of Heroes the life that they deserve. To provide a little comfort. This money will go towards what the child needs. To help pay for part of College, new clothes, medical needs, or just a bit of help when moving out or getting a driver's license. Each year, money from the 'CHILDREN OF HEROES FUND' will be given to all 'minor' children who lost a Parent or Guarian in Afghanistan. The children will receive a payment each year until they turn 18 years of age,(Depending on the amount in the fund, each child will receive equal payments). This is a project that I feel passionate about. It is a way for us to say, "Thank You" for the sacrifices that were made, and show our respect and support to the children. It is a way for everyone to join together and share the pride we have in our country, our troops and our freedoms. It is a way for all of us to reach out and support the children of those who have fought for us, our homes and our values. It is a way for every person, young or old, to be a part of something that brings us all together to share a moment and honor the memories of all those who died so that we could sleep in peace. Those who fight...so we don't have to. These men and women go off to far away places. They defend us, our way of life, and our country. THEY KEEP THE FREE WORLD...FREE. I feel humbled to be able to do this for the children who will never be huged by their Mother or Father again before bed. It is an honor that so many have asked me to enter this competition. I believe we owe these children a future where they know that the sacrifice of their loved one was felt by many. I believe it is the very least I can do. I will not write anything that humiliates, belittles, criticizes, demeans, embarrasses, or make light of the duties, responsibilities or the dedication of the troops. I feel very good about this project. I have had great response from friends and family, and also the general public. I know I am not a famous Poet, but that is not important.
