**Many children who live in poverty right here in Ottawa would never have the opportunity to learn to swim, play hockey, dance … or ride a bike if it were not for Christie Lake Kids**. Skill Building is so important to increasing the self-worth of kids, helping them to believe in their own ability to learn is what Christie Lake Kids does to help to improve the lives of underprivileged kids, and that helps to create brighter tomorrows for them and the whole community. **A biking program building skills from beginner to mountain bike adventurer will give our kids a new way to enjoy the out doors and increase their physical health and wellbeing.** Children will learn to ride on 60 beautiful bikes and helmets donated by TELUS, Tommy & Lefebreve and Specialize at our camp property in perth while they are there for camps and outings year-round. _Children and youth can learn with out being self conscious about their lack of expereince and earn recognition for their accomplishments along the way._ Just as important is the "take home" expereince. **Many of the kids in our programs do not have bikes because they live in the inner city in poverty.** This is a skill that can help to socially equalize them with their peer sand enjoy an activity that so many other kids take for granted.
